Catherine Lucia is a massage therapist and instructor, specializing in Asian styles of bodywork. She is licensed in the state of Connecticut and is certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Catherine is a 1994 graduate of the Shiatsu program at the CT Center for Massage Therapy (CCMT), an extensive program offering training in Anatomy and Physiology, Eastern medical theory and the technique of Zen Shiatsu. She is a Master in one of the original forms of Reiki, the Usui Method.
While at CCMT, Catherine had the opportunity to study with Pauline Sasaki who is a world renowned therapist and instructor. Ms. Sasaki received her formal training and certification from Shizuto Masanaga, originator of Zen Shiatsu. Catherine has continued her education with Pauline both in the U.S. and Europe achieving the status of being one of the advanced Shiatsu therapists in the world.
Catherine creates and conducts workshops on Shiatsu, Reiki, and the Chakra system. In addition, she is on the faculty of CCMT instructing courses in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupressure, and the foundations of energy work to massage therapy students. She is a member and Registered Instructor of the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA).
